Moving on up, to the North side
Although this is a little late, I have left my old job at Page 1 Solutions in Golden, Colorado as of July 2nd and started my new job at Crocs, in Niwot, Colorado as of July 5th.
I have been here just under 2 weeks and the shock from working with a small company, to a large corporation is still sinking in. I am still basically doing the same thing I did at Page 1 though: front end development. Now the systems are different though, just as like you would imagine. I am the second web designer they have hired and I work closely with Jim Foley (harkening from Denver’s own Electric Rain) building Crocs’ product websites, which they have many in the works.
Crocs is a great place so far, different, but great, and although a period of adjustment is completely normal (with all it’s embarrassing moments, dumb questions and faux pas) I know just the experience of being part of a large scale organization will help me grow more as a person.
In fact this period of adjustment is exactly one of the reasons I left Page 1: I knew everything. Really. There was nothing left for me to learn about the system, the tools, anything, I had pushed everything as far as I could. Sure, there were small things which I could learn more about, but overall, I had seen everything there was to see and talked to everyone there was to talk to. It was time to shake things up a bit.
Sure that wasn’t the only reason I left, but not letting myself get too comfortable is something I need to remind myself of, and when I made up my mind that it was time to go, well, it was time.
I’m excited at all the new possibilities here at Crocs, and hopefully I’ll be able to have some time (like today) to keep track of everything as it goes forward.
