Microsoft Accidently Helps
So for a while now my main computer (which happens to be a Dell laptop) has had some corrupt install entries. Nothing I could find would get rid of them, no registry cleaner would do it, nothing. The bummer was these programs were pretty important, and I could not uninstall, or reinstall either one of them.
Both were installed through Microsofts’ install format .msi, which I found out, retains certain information in an installer registry of types. Well whatever, tonight I decided I was going to get those programs working, no matter what, and after doing random word searches on Google for words I thought might add up to a solution, I stumbled upon this.
Description of the Windows Installer CleanUp Utilit
Well, I had seen a couple other things prior to this, about a command line utility included with Microsoft Platform SDK called MsiZap, but c’mon, command line? There has to be an easier solution, and that’s what you’re looking at above.
Buried in the Help and Support section of Microsoft, a small program (which still sports Office ‘98 graphics in the installer) which will give you a full list of all programs installed with .msi and then let you select which ones you want to clean up.
Fixed my problem.
